Package Itenary

Day 1 - Arrival & The Gateway to Bhutan

Pickup from NJP Station / Bagdogra Airport and transfer to the border town of Phuentsholing.

As you cross the border, witness the dramatic change in architecture and atmosphere at the Bhutan Gate.

Spend your first evening exploring the local markets of this bustling frontier town.

Day 2 - Into the Heart of the Himalayas ( Thimphu )

Morning immigration formalities followed by a scenic mountain drive to Thimphu, the charming capital city.

The route winds through emerald green forests and past the magnificent Gedu University campus.

Stop at the Chuuzom confluence where the Paro and Thimphu rivers meet, marked by three distinct stupas.

Day 3 - Thimphu: Tradition & Tranquility

Full day exploring the National Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordenma, and the unique Takin Preserve.

Visit the Tashichho Dzong, a fortress that serves as the seat of the government and the summer residence of the clergy.

Conclude your day with a visit to the General Post Office to create personalized postage stamps that are valid for use.

Day 4 - The High Passes to Punakha

Drive to Punakha via the breathtaking Dochula Pass (3,100m) with its 108 memorial stupas and Himalayan views.

On a clear day, enjoy a 360-degree panorama of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks including Gangkhar Puensum.

Descend into the subtropical Punakha valley, passing through forests of rhododendron and magnolia.

Day 5 - Valley of the Rivers & Paro Arrival

Morning visit to the majestic Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakhang ( Temple of Fertility) , followed by a picturesque transfer to Paro.

Walk across the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, draped in colorful prayer flags over the Po Chu River.

Enjoy the drive along the Pa Chhu River as you enter the wide, willow-draped valley of Paro.

Day 6 - The Sacred Hike to Tiger’s Nest ( Taksang )

A soul-stirring hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, perched on a cliffside, with a restful evening to follow.

Listen to the echoes of chanting and butter lamps flickering within this architectural marvel clinging to the granite rock.

After the descent, relax your muscles with an optional traditional hot stone bath at a local farmhouse.

Day 7 - Paro Heritage & Back to Phuntsholling

Explore Kyichu Lhakhang and Rinpung Dzong before heading back to Phuentsholing for your final night.

Visit the Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower that now houses the National Museum’s collection of thangkas and heritage items.

Relish the winding downhill drive back toward the plains, catching a final glimpse of the Himalayan foothills.

Day 8 - Phuntsholling to Bagdogra

Transfer from Phuentsholing to Bagdogra Airport / NJP Station for your departure.

Travel through the scenic Dooars region, famous for its sprawling tea estates and diverse wildlife corridors.

Arrive at the station or airport with a heart full of memories from the Land of the Thunder Dragon with North East Horizon Tours and Treks.
